FVMS students were greeted on their first day back to school with new Bengal PRIDE posters throughout the campus and in each classroom. These posters help to bring the Bengal PRIDE (Preparation, Respect, Integrity, Determination, and Excellence) expectations into focus for 5 areas of our everyday school life. These 5 areas of positive behavior expectations include classrooms, hallways, locker areas, restrooms and the Bengal Café. Part of the first week of school was dedicated to learning where these posters are located and how they can help FVMS students show their Bengal PRIDE during the school day.
A new campaign also introduced this year is the “FVMS Student of the Week”. During the school week if a teacher or staff member observes an FVMS student showing positive behavior, the teacher will give that student a “Showing Bengal Pride” ticket that can be placed in a box located in the cafeteria. Each week one student’s name from each grade level will be drawn for a gift prize and the honor of being “The Student of the Week”. At the end of each nine weeks, all the tickets that have been placed in the box during the quarter will have a chance to win a grand prize. Students, continue to show positive behavior each day to earn more tickets for the weekly drawings.
Finally, a new Bengal PRIDE wall flag is on display in the gym/ auditorium lobby to remind FVMS students on their way to classes of what Bengal PRIDE stands for. In addition, the Bengal Café now has new crowd control barriers that will aid in the transitioning between the cafeteria serving line and the dining areas.
Congratulations and Thanks to our new 2008-2009 PTA Board!
